Earning Money with Google AdSense
People today are looking for all kinds of ways to make money on the Internet, and Google's AdSense is just one of those ways. By agreeing to allow Google to place advertising on your website, you get paid every time someone clicks on one of the ads that appear on your website. How much you get paid depends on how much the advertiser pays for the ad that is placed on your website.
Choosing Ads Selectively
Advertisers can bid to place advertisements on your site and you, in turn, can choose the kind of advertisements that Google places on your site. For example, an accountant may only want advertisements that pertain in some way to the financial markets while someone else may be open to any type of advertisement. You can also customize your site to look the way you'd like it to look without interfering with the Google advertisements in any way.
What to Expect
For someone who is looking for a way to make a full-time income on the Internet, this is not likely to fill that void unless they are members of several affiliate programs. It's a nice way to make a little bit of extra cash, but it will take some time before your site is out there in public view enough that it will make a huge financial difference. That doesn't mean you should not involve yourself with this program by any means, but it's not a scheme that is going to provide you with immediate income. It can be favorably compared to one of the Network Marketing schemes in that it takes awhile to get it going, but once it gets started, you can see a nice residual income from it.
A Word of Caution
It's important to remember that not all of the advertisements will be "general audience." Therefore, if you have children or are against advertisements of a sexual nature, you should make sure to include this information when you sign up for AdSense. Remember, you are in charge of the kind of advertising that is placed on your website. Unless you make specifications or ask for exclusions, however, anything is fair game.
You should also keep in mind that, just because you have a certain type of website, it doesn't mean you can only accept advertising from that category. People who enter your site are likely looking for more products or services than what you have to offer. So, giving them a wide range of products from which to choose will give you more money off the ads that are placed on your site. You can be selective, but don't be too choosy or you may find that you will make very little, if any, income from your Google AdSense account.
Choosing the Right Ads
What is the best way to choose? Think of the type of people who visit your website—what kind of products and services are likely to interest them besides what you have to offer? Books, clothing, travel, vacations, hotels, and music—you get the idea. Don't accept adult material unless you are certain that no one visiting your site will be offended because you may find yourself losing visitors, which you don't want to do.
