What to Expect

For someone who is looking for a way to make a full-time income on the Internet, this is not likely to fill that void unless they are members of several affiliate programs. It's a nice way to make a little bit of extra cash, but it will take some time before your site is out there in public view enough that it will make a huge financial difference. That doesn't mean you should not involve yourself with this program by any means, but it's not a scheme that is going to provide you with immediate income. You should also keep in mind that, just because you have a certain type of website, it doesn't mean you can only accept advertising from that category. People who enter your site are likely looking for more products or services than what you have to offer. So, giving them a wide range of products from which to choose will give you more money off the ads that are placed on your site. You can be selective, but don't be too choosy or you may find that you will make very little, if any, income from your Google AdSense account.

Choosing the Right Ads

What is the best way to choose? Think of the type of people who visit your website—what kind of products and services are likely to interest them besides what you have to offer? Books, clothing, travel, vacations, hotels, and music—you get the idea. Don't accept adult material unless you are certain that no one visiting your site will be offended because you may find yourself losing visitors, which you don't want to do.
