Tips for Successfully Running a Pay Per Click Campaign.

The advertisers for the pay per click campaign are always engaged in a fierce competition to win bids on the most popular keywords used in search engines. Majority of the search engines have an automatic bidding process where the bidding stops when the maximum bid is achieved. However it is advisable that you use third party tools which have the tracking mechanism of the number of clicks so that they are in sync with the search engines control panel.

Until now the general rule was that the advertiser who made the highest bid for particular keywords would be ranked first in the results of the search engine for PPC. The second highest bidder for the keywords would be placed second and so on. However in recent times many search engines like Google and Yahoo have made amendments and have now included something like a quality score. MSN will soon start following this model as well.

Also the PPC search engines today limit the number of ads to be displayed on each page to less than 10 ads as research suggests that unless your ad is positioned in the top 3 or 4 results, less number of visitors will click on your ads. Because of fierce competition between advertisers today, PPC engines do not require the minimum amount of money to be invested for the PPC campaign. However some search engines may require a small deposit of about $25 to $50 but this amount is accumulated in your account on the site. Hence you should carefully read the fine print in the agreement of each and every search engine on which you are going to start your PPC marketing campaign. You should be sure as to what is the minimum amount to be deposited as well as the consequences if you decide to cancel your advertising campaign mid way.

In the beginning of your campaign you should see the progress regularly. Also you should figure out in the beginning the maximum amount that you can bid and you should not bid more than you can afford. You should calculate the value of a single visitor who visits your website so that you can come to know the maximum amount that you can pay per click. Always being number one should not be your ultimate goal but being amongst the top ten should definitely be your world as people click on the second and third ranked results as well.

You can also bid on common variations and misspellings of keywords that can cost you a fraction of what advertisers are paying for the most common keyword. You can use tools like Wordtracker that can locate keywords for you that are similar to the keyword you have entered in the text box. You should always create separate ads for each product and service that you are offering. Individual ads like these will attract more attention. Hence you can create ads pertaining to a particular keyword as a result of which you will be able to convert visitors into buyers of your products and services.
