Another method of search engine marketing is called search engine optimization, or SEO, and this method involves improving your search result rankings by using natural methods instead of paying for them. This means that SEO companies and personnel study the words and phrases that people look for in searches, as well as the search engine algorithms, to help improve the site rankings. Issues that may need to be fixed by this method of search engine marketing include problems with website spidering by the search engine, not enough unique content on the site, keywords are not used or not used enough, the site coding or the structure of the website, and more. There are two types of SEO in search engine marketing, and these are called black hat SEO and white hat SEO, depending on the techniques that are used to optimize the search engine results. Black hat generally refers to using deceptive practices or to generate content solely for the search engines. White hat typically refers to methods and techniques that are approved by the search engines. This includes generating content, for people and not search engines, and then providing access to it. There are penalties imposed by the search engines that include removal from search results for any site that uses methods considered black hat in search engine marketing and optimization.
