Just a quick one today for all the Pay Per Click account managers out there. We wanted to let you know about an aspect of Adwords that you might not have been aware of. The ten word limit for keywords.
Now, Top Click has been creating and running Pay Per Click accounts for quite a long time now, but this came as news to us. I mean, how would you know? a 10 word search-term is long-tail by anyone’s standards. We only found out after creating an account for a client who runs a niche business in a very competitive market. From our research we had reason to believe that people were searching for particularly long tail keywords when looking to buy this particular client’s product, so that’s what we focused our strategy on. One of those terms was rejected by Adwords with the epithet, ‘Keyword exceeds 10 word limit.’
Okay, so it’s not a big deal, this isn’t something that has come up with us before and it’s very unlikely to come up again for a while, but still it’s interesting that there’s a limit on keyword length when a Google’s user’s search term can be as long as he or she pleases.
