Yahoo and Sainsburys in advertising deal

After you have purchased your shopping at Sainsbury’s and the cashier habitually asks you “do you have a Nectar card”?. Have you ever found yourself wondering what the actual point of them is? Or whether or not the so called ‘benefits’ are worth the hassle of filling out a form or shuffling around your bag/wallet looking for the card?

Twitter benefits from traffic boost thanks to Google deal

2010 seems as though it’s to be a year of collaboration and co-operation amongst the big players on the web. After seeing positive deals between Microsoft and Facebook, Yahoo and Microsoft and Yahoo and Nectar the first evidence of positive results has arisen from the Twitter/Google deal.

Microsoft and Yahoo deal approved by regulators

A deal struck by two online superpowers, Microsoft and Yahoo has been cleared by European Union and US regulators. First announced in July 2009, clearance by regulators will see Microsoft allowed to buy Yahoo’s internet search and search advertisement business. This move comes as Microsoft attempt to increase their share in the Google dominated online search engine market.

Google snap up Aardvark

Yes you read the headline correctly, Internet search engine giants Google have snapped up Aardvark. Not in the way that you may think though, they have not purchased a nocturnal mammal as an office pet. I’m talking of course about the social-search provider.

Google take on Twitter

Google have announced that they are going to use their Gmail service to take on Twitter by adding a ‘status update’ capability to it. Much like the popular social networking site Twitter, Google is attempting to provide the ever increasing users of their e-mailing service with the ability to give up to the minute updates on whatever it is they are doing in their lives at the precise moment.

Facebook and Microsoft shake hands on new deal

Two giants of the online world, Microsoft and Facebook, have come together to form a mutually beneficial agreement. The companies have decided to revise their search pact into a global deal. This would mean that the social networking behemoth Facebook will sell its own advertisements and receive more of Bing’s features on its web results.
