Understanding Slow Sites
If you have a website there are a few things you should be considering. Any website that is going to have a customer waiting an inordinate amount of time is going to lose you customers. This is because they want to get on the site and find the information they want quickly. If they can go to a different site to get the same product chances are they will always head to the site promoting better speed. This in turn means your sales are going to suffer.
Google may not rank you lower because of a slow download on a site, but they will see the customer leaving the site quicker which does affect your ranking. In fact Google can rank the link used as irrelevant for their search engine.
There are ways that you can avoid this problem from happening. These resources are free as well as handy to use. Alexa.com will offer you a complete work up of the average load time for your site. While you may not be at the 1.2 seconds like Google’s site is you should be with in 30 seconds to a minute. All you have to do is enter in your website name and then click on the overview button. This will give you the statistics you need to check your speed. Web page analyzer and web site speed test are two other options you have on the internet.
