Time and Digg
It takes time to get yourself up there on the front page. Sometimes what you try will not work. This doesn’t mean you should just give up. You need to continue to try and make it to the front page. If getting to the top requires changing the topic or your submissions, then do it. You need to know that sometimes the front page is chosen randomly. This means that there is a popular story out there that Digg thinks should be on the front. You need to be able to manipulate the system, but you won’t always have success.
You can still get some links from the story. You may not get a lot due to the lack of recognition the story received, but four links is better than none so keep trying. It doesn’t matter that you make the front page every time you submit content, just that you do it often enough to get more links.
The thing you need to keep in mind is that Digg is just one of the tools out there for creating natural links. You have at least ten other networking sites you need to build up and gain momentum from. The nice thing about Digg and other social networking sites is that where one may not succeed the other might. When you submit content you might find Facebook offers a better rating than Digg. It is just how things go sometimes. Let the sites work for you.
