Bidding on Pay per Click Ads

August 6, 2008 by Admin

If you intend to use PPC or pay per click service, it is smart to consider how much you are willing to bid on each ad before you get started. Setting up a budget at the start can save you money. You might want to consider that pay per click ads can cost you a fortune, so setting up your budget at the start can spare you some hardships down the road. The first thing you want to consider before you bid on an ad is how much that ad is worth to you. If an ad is extremely relevant, it may be worth a lot to you. On the other hand, if the ad is not relevant to your product or service items, then you are wise to leave it alone, especially if you are banking on Google’s top list.

If you are opting for Google’s top Page Rank, the higher position you are in, the more traffic you will get also. But, Google is not a system that focuses on the highest amount paid for ads. Google focuses on a lot more than this. You should make it a goal to get in the “first three positions.” When you get into third rank, you have a good chance at going to the top with Google. Google has a syndication system whereas those in third position get to the top sooner. Sometimes fourth position sites get higher ranks as well. It’s based on the Adwords and the position the Adwords are in, in the pay per click system.

If you are in position five or six, you will pay less for your Adwords. If this is acceptable to you, you will still get a good number of visitors coming to your web site. Otherwise, go for the third position if possible. On the other hand, if you have to pay a cent more for number one position, why not go for the gold. The goal here is to get a better click-through rate with Google. Still, relevancy is number one with Google, so when you bid on Adwords or keywords, ensure that they are relevant.

The PPC systems comprise of two different ads really. That is you have tier one and tier two ads. You have the choice between search engine ads and contextual match ads, or context ads rather. The first set of ads is placements in the search engine and the second ones are ads that are placed on various web sites instead of in the search engines. Pay per click systems gives you a few options, but it is up to you to decide on how much your ads are worth to you. You want to make sure when you use pay per click systems that your budget is already setup and running. Also learn some information about “jamming.” This is a procedure or tactic used in PPC programs that just might cost you a fortune if you do not know what you are doing.
