Building a Search Engine Friendly Website - Part 12
Subheading Tags
Using subheading tags can help your search engine ranking as well. This means you use a H2 or H3 for your subheadings. You should never reuse the H1 for a subheading that will get you a lower ranking.
Other things to help make your site search engine friendly include keywords listed in special ways. You can use bold, lists, and italics only when it is appropriate. You should never bold every keyword or draw attention to them. Focus more on the formatting of the web page so that it is easy to read rather than keyword rich.
In some cases you can use alt text for images. An alt text is going to be an anchor for an image and you really need the images to be anchored for search engine friendly websites. You shouldn’t stuff your image text full of keywords either. The text should be descriptive and informative for the consumer.
Lastly when you are creating a search engine friendly website you shouldn’t rely solely on your site navigation menu or map to link pages together. You need to create links within the main body of your site to help the consumer as well as the search engine.
