Click Fraud with Pay Per Click

08/11/07 9:29 AM

This is one of the greatest disadvantages of Pay Per Click; because you have to pay each time someone clicks on your ad, you will get your competition continuously clicking on your ad to so that you have to pay, lose money and they get all the business. This isn’t always the case and doesn’t always happen, but it has happened many times before and would not be uncommon if it happened to you.

It is unfortunate that you get people who will do this, but it is all part of the “package”. You have to be willing to deal with things like this if you want to get into the business of Pay Per Click.

There is something you can do about it if you feel there is anything suspicious going on with your ad. You should frequently check your logs and contact the search engine involved, do so only when you have sufficient evidence and ask them what they can do about it. Many of the more reputable companies will look into the matter and refund you your money if they can see that you have been the victim of jealous fraudsters.

If this happens to you, don’t let it slide, not even once. Report it and hopefully something will be done about it.
