Any website that is makes a consumer register before being able to view content is making a large mistake according to some in the sector publication. E- consultancy just released an article that observed visitors to Northern Rock must register before they are allowed to view loans, mortgages, and accounts.

The fact is E- consultancy things this is just wrong. The process is extremely lengthy for the registration, but on top of that the motivation to do so is going to be lacking in the consumer when they just want a little information. The reason for this registration is unclear to most and doesn’t make the SEO any better.

There are other recommendations regarding the registration process as well. The website is using white text on a black background, which is harder for the consumer to read and not as professional. It seems that E- consultancy is asking for the company to use a more balanced approach on their website as well as links on its homepage. The search box is designed on most websites to be a user friendly tool, however if the website doesn’t have this tool it isn’t going to encourage the consumer. The overall design of the website needs to be consumer friendly according to the report.
