Danger Inc. Purchased by Microsoft

The question is does Microsoft’s recent buy of Danger Inc thumb their nose at Apple and Google? Danger is the maker of T- Mobile Sidekick Qwerty smartphone. T- Mobile just signed a deal with Yahoo that the search engine is going to be the major player for their 11 European countries.

In other words Yahoo just landed the deal away from Google to have their search engine used as the default page on the mobile phones. Sidekicks are a flip up screen mobile phone that has a keyboard underneath that makes it a lot better for texting and emails.

Danger Inc. actually wrote the program for the phone with its own operating system and JVM. It is a multi tasking phone that can use a real time scheduler. All of the applications are also Java based. It seems that the Danger phone is the premier operating system phone that is on the market. This means that Microsoft’s buyout has netted them another success. The acquisition is going to offer the expertise in other areas of Microsoft’s new plan including expansion into the mobile phone market as well as the offerings. It is a great coup for Microsoft.
