Quantcast.com is another online site that allows you to estimate your competitor’s traffic. It is very similar to ALexa.com. It is a free search program that uses feedback from its users to gain the traffic data you are searching for. It is a little more in depth than Alexa because it also estimates the monthly US based unique visitors to the site. So it is actually counting those that may not be on the site as long as others, or that may not usually visit that type of site.
The reports are considered to be fairly accurate even for the unique visitor.
The system was tested using known data from log files. The company testing the system found that the information was very close to the actual log files in their possession. Having this type of results will help you determine which of the tools will be best, or if you would like to use them all.
Compete.com is another service offered to determine the traffic rankings of competitors. It is a system looking at online consumer behaviour data. This means that the free tool offers data that looks at traffic, keywords, overall online reach, US audience share, current promotions, and other data points of competitors to determine the information.
