Gathering Links for SEO – Part 1

September 26, 2008 by Admin

Linkbaiting is a term used in SEO that allows you to post content in which you can get links from it. In other words the content you post on your site will attract others to link with your site. This is not a new concept and not a secret either.

With Link Bait you can work in almost a viral marketing strategy.

Obtaining links is also the best way to get to the top of the search engine.

Overall linkbaiting is a strategy that Google and other search engines allow.

With the search engine optimisation world we have today it is imperative that we all have a way to get our site to the top. With linkbaiting you can do that and the advantage is not an unfair one. After all, everyone can use linkbaiting as long as they know what it is.

So, what is linkbaiting in general terms and why does it work so well?

Linkbaiting is about content on your site. It is the content that will make other sites wish to link with you. They figure that the link is something their readers may want to know and therefore it is a logical link. When writing content your aim is to get the content on the top of the search engines as well as with other sites. For example a video content could be published on several pages because it is important to the site. This means you are baiting the site to use your link over another.

The more you can get your page viewed the more success you will have. Some sites like YouTube are accessed because of the video being shown. For example the iPhone video has been viewed by more than 5.2 million individuals because it is something a lot of individuals want to see. To find out what is having the most success you have to look at the site indicator. The site indicator will tell you exactly what is going on with any site and the number of views it has.

Linkbaiting is not necessarily about art. In other words you don’t have to rely on a promotion or something else that will generate millions of links. You can be consistent. By offering consistency you are going to be more impressive with link baiting. You have to identify the opportunity and then use it. By offering a link option through a social network you get more links. Associated content is a good example of this. A person publishes a “call for content” and then when it is published they are able to link it with social sites for more people to link to their site and see the content they wrote.
