Google has launched a new advertising campaign entitled, ‘Gone Google’ which aims to highlight the various ways in which the company’s products and services can benefit businesses and the growing number of companies choosing to, as they put it, ‘Go Google’. More than two million businesses around the world use Google applications in some way, which is an impressive stat, one that Google apparently feels is not widely known enough.
The timing of the ad couldn’t be better, coming as it does on the back of the news that Rentokil International are to embark on the most ambitious and broad-based introduction of the Google, cloud-based system ever. In the long-run, this roll-out will involve around 35’000 users of the Google system companywide.
Rentokil’s decision marks a definite sea change in the attitude of the business community to Google applications. Up until now, the bigger businesses have traditionally viewed Google’s applications as interesting ideas for the future rather than serious options. Google are hoping that this first major player to make the leap of faith onto their platform will open the floodgates. They could be right, though there is certainly a lot riding on the success of Rentokil’s decision.
