Google Chrome to be Pre-Installed on new Computers
Google is considering cutting a deal with personal computer makers to have Google Chrome pre-installed on new computers. A deal of this nature could considerably boost Google’s already gargantuan share of the search market as well as introducing Google to a new swathe of computer users, boosting the amount of people using applications like Gmail, Google Reader, Google Docs, etc.
It is strongly suspected that Google will begin attempting to put those deals in place after the ‘beta’ tag is taken off Chrome early next year. The company also plans to release versions of the browser for both Linux and Mac OS next year which will make the programme available to a huge 99% of computer systems.
With near absolute dominance of the search market and their closest rivals, Yahoo self destructing, Google can almost count the search battle as won. The logical next step is browsers and applications and with users by and large tending to use the browser that comes pre-installed with their computer, the importance of a deal like this cannot be underestimated.
Once Google are happy that Chrome is ready for the market, they are expected to promote it hard. The one big challenge for them will be slightly more advanced users who tend to be loyal users of Mozilla Firefox, the only way to snare them will be to make Chrome the best browser in real terms. On that, the jury remains out.
