There have been a lot of questions as to whether Google will count a second link on a page when it comes to SEO. Several SEO professionals have set out to prove whether this is true or not. These individuals have offered a first and second link to Google and then checked back with the index Google creates with their site. The researchers then tried a no follow first link.
The results were that the first link was always counted by Google, not the second no matter what the first link had. The top link will always be the first link and the second will be ignored.
For search engine optimisation this is very important. You don’t want to have a second link that is more important to your site be over looked; therefore it is very important that you place the appropriate first link on your page. You also need to make sure that this link is viable for Google to follow. If the link is found, not working at any time during Google spider search your ranking will be lowered by penalties.
Search engine optimisation is not only for the search engine like Google. It is for the consumer, and if the link doesn’t work for them they will leave just as quickly.
