History of Pay Per Click

The advertising revolution of Pay Per Click started during 1998 and was done so by Goto.com, what we now know as Overture.com. The whole idea of the campaign was so that anyone, no matter who they were, would be able to determine their ranking on the search engines using certain keywords, keywords chosen by them and according to how much they were willing to pay for it. Search engines were regarded as old and many thought that it was difficult to find exactly what they were looking for so other major sites took over. There was and still is, a lot of competition regarding whose website is going to be at the top.

Lately, banner ads and pop ups have shared an important shame with the area of search engines that are known as the “sponsored links”. All of this together with haughty term prices, scientific click fraud and heavy competition to drive the Pay Per Click ROI (Return on Investment) down cleverly.

Even though Pay Per Click is relatively old and not only recently invented, it is still very popular and thousands of people make use of it on a daily basis. Pay Per Click marketing is a great way to get started and show people what you have to offer.
