How long should it take for new links to begin increasing my rankings? - Part 1

A few months ago I decided to purchase $700 of directory listings in order to build up my website’s inbound traffic. The problem I am having right now is that Google is not showing any inbound links. I am also finding that traffic to my website has not increased over much. So am I missing a key part in the process or did I just waste money?

Answer:

That is a very good question. Let’s first look at where you are checking your numbers for links. You see the search engine you are pulling numbers from is going to make a huge difference.

Google, which is what you have been using, only shows you about 10% of the back links that you have. In other words you are not seeing a great deal of links with Google because they aren’t counting the links you have just purchased. In fact Google for this analysis is rather useless. You will find the Page Rank Google offers is updated every two or three months, which means that new information, may not be registering yet. You will also find that Microsoft Live only shows a few inbound links, from what you actually have.
