How to Stay in the Good Index

06/10/08 7:54 AM

To help you break the information down further we will take a look at other information offered. We have a list of reasons why your site may fall into the supplemental section rather than stay in the good index. They are:

. Duplicate pages
. Identical title and meta tags
. Content of quality
. Templates with reiteration in the content
. Content not easily found with navigation

All of these factors can hinder your good graces. So make sure that you fix any problems you might have regarding the set up of your site. You want to have links, but you also need to have navigation that a search engine can move through. The biggest issue with supplemental index is that you don’t have ENOUGH INCOMING LINKS. In other words you have a lot of links going out, but nothing coming in for the search engine to care about.

The best indication that you are doing something right is in the Cache Date. If a search engine is on your page with frequency then you are doing something right. You are considered an important website. PageRank by itself is not as important as getting yourself in the proper index.

You can ascertain that PageRank and Cache Date are linked. However, you can’t know for sure how they are linked and what could be an issue unless you delve deeper. In fact you will not be in the top ten if you don’t get spidered frequently. Google and other search engines only offer the top ten spot to those who have been crawled in the last two weeks.
