The iPhone has been named the most desirable brand in Britain in a yearly list of the twenty products that British consumers most want to own. The touch screen device overtook the Aston Martin as the most desirable product in Britain, moving up from its second place position last year.
Apple products in general did very well indeed featuring three times in the top ten. In addition to the number one placed iPhone, the iPod came in at forth with apple itself in at third. Gratifyingly for the Apple marketing department the best that blackberry could manage was seventh.
The list overall showed a skew towards more affordable luxury goods like iPhones and Nintendo Wiis and away from overtly luxurious goods. Dom Perignon Champagne and Rolex watches fell down the list, which may well be a reaction to the credit crunch.
“People want something that is aspirational but that’s not going to break the bank. Consoles like the Wii are fun and enjoyable as well as being innovative.” – Stephen Chelitos, CoolBrands Chairman.
