Although it has been a little hampered by the announcement that Apple will be pulling out of the trade show after this year, the pre Mac World hype has begun, with most of the speculation surrounding the content of Apple’s final keynote speech. Unlike some previous years, there is no obvious product or initiative on the horizon, though some are speculating (and it is only speculation) that Apple will unveil an Internet-based media server at the event.
HP have done a similar thing recently, their server allows users to access their media from anywhere in the world with an internet connection, by centralising personal content on a remote server, rather than a hard drive. This of course, is a much simpler way of doing things and allows a home computer type experience from any terminal.
According to some, Apple are going to announce a similar thing at Macworld, the only difference would probably be (again, this is based on no concrete evidence) that, where HP’s server is available to both Macs and PCs, the Apple one would probably only be available to Apple hardware – in a world where most computers are still PCs that may hamper its chances of success slightly.
Well, I guess we’ll see… Or not.
