File names

Again we are going to take the same stand as we did in subdirectories. You can have a keyword in either one or the other, but not in both. The keyword in the file name is a great idea. However, you don’t want to over extend the keywords. Having multiple repetition is not worthy of a good ranking. Instead you need to have a good keyword and only one word in the file name. Repetition is seen as spam and the rank will be significantly reduced if not penalized as a whole.

A good example is http://www.domain.com/keyword.html. You don’t want http://www.keyword.com/samkeyword.html. In other words you need to have a different keyword in the file name than in the domain or subdomain. This also offers more chance to get on more search results. One keyword may not be searched for, but the other might be.
