Myths: What You Should Know About AdWords – Part 4

May 30, 2008 by Admin

Page Rank and Landing Pages

The myth that the page rank and your links on the landing page will directly affect your score is actually untrue. Links are going to make your quality score higher. There are some things that could affect your link and score status, but we will get to those in a minute. First with Google the paid search and the organic search use different mathematical equations. This means that the landing page doesn’t affect the quality score; and therefore neither does the links.

What we have found is that the landing pages that have well established links are going to do better than those with no links. The links help bring in more consumers to the site via other avenues. You don’t have to have the landing page performing well to have good traffic in the paid search section. The domain links are going to be better to have, but they don’t have to be linked to the landing pages.

Google actually states that page rank and the links are not going to affect the quality score. It is more that the page rank is attained when you have the links, and therefore if the links are tied to the landing pages you will have more luck getting the higher score for the quality because your landing page will be created a little better.

What you should concentrate on is having the proper content on your pages. The content should be relevant to the site. You should also have articles that are targeted for that specific page. Well written and keyword appropriate articles are much better than keyword stuffed.

You also don’t want leave your landing page on its own. You should link your privacy, contact, and about pages. There should also be at least 10 to 20 different articles on the site. You don’t have to link all pages to one source. You can link some pages that are not linked to others. In other words as long as at least one page is linked to another page and you can navigate the site you are going to have better results.
