Record Traffic for Celebrity and Presidential News - Part 1
January has seen record traffic for certain websites relating to the news. It seems the US presidential election, the death of Heath Ledger, and the Britney Spear’s problems have been creating record traffic on the internet sites in the UK. Mail online is just one place that saw a huge amount of traffic during the month, in which their user numbers jumped to 164%, which is 17.903.172 total visitors for last month. The Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic figures have also been published to show the huge jump in traffic for the UK newspaper sites.
Guardian.co.uk is the most popular UK newspaper site with Times Online being the second. They both showed the strongest performance in the last money, by increasing their visitors from 25.5% and 38% respectively. These numbers were compared to January 2007.
Sun Online has also shown an increase in the overall visitors with 40% increase since January of last year. The Telegraph.co.uk also grew 65% in the same amount of time. This means that the websites are creating more traffic based on the news that is there to report. It seems we can figure out what the UK residents are interested in with the jump in growth for the last month.
