SEO Guidelines

SEO guidelines are posted on several sites to try and help a business make it on the web, but do these really work? More importantly can you understand the advice being given? SEO is search engine optimisation in which the web pages are created to get a heightened number of consumers to the site.

Google and other search engines have outlined guidelines for how to handle creating a web page. First on the list of guidelines is the page title. More often than not a person creating the site doesn’t follow this first rule. A web page title should be 3 to 7 words in length. It is a descriptive title that the consumer is looking for. By looking at the page title the consumer wants to figure out what the page is about and succeed in finding the appropriate information to help them. The title should be filled with a couple of keywords. These keywords need to be primary search words for the SEO to work.

Google has a list of keywords that you can buy as well as words the engine will search for. If a word is too obscure as a keyword Google will offer a lower rating and therefore send your page to the bottom of the list.
