Stopping the Click-to-Call

Google has been very profitable with their click-to-call adwords program. The program was designed to offer security for the person seeking the ads to speak with an advertiser without passing on vital information. The click-to-call service was the first program to be launched online. It was designed to track how many individuals were clicking on the ads and following them to the website. The program would then pay per click to the advertisers and Google. As of December 3, 2007 changes have been made. The ad format will no longer be on the Google search results. In other words the click- to- call will end. The ads will no longer be in use.

The click- to- call ads were a trial to try and measure the amount of interest on part of the advertiser and the user adoption of such ads. It seems that Google did not receive the amount of results they were hoping for and they believe the program needs further development. The click-to-call ads meant that when a person clicked on the ads they would be contacted by someone from the company to talk more about the services offered. Google has pulled the click- to- call ads until they have sufficiently worked out the issues.
