Jon James, director of Virgin Media’s broadband, has issued a statement saying that broadband services will be enhanced with speeds of up to 400 megabits per second (Mbps)by the end of the year. Yesterday’s budget heralds improvements for broadband costs

BT extends Fast Broadband Service
October 14, 2009 by Matt ThomasBritish Telecom is extending its super-fast broadband services, making the 100 megabits per second service available to double the number of people. The extension of the ‘fibre to premise’ service will make super-fast internet available to in the region of 2.5 million households. This is all coming as part of BT’s £1.5 billion pound investment in broadband networks through which they hope to connect 10 million homes to their fast broadband service by 2012. (more…)

UK will struggle to up Broadband Speed to meet Targets
February 27, 2009 by James OliverAccording to PointTopic, a UK based broadband think-tank, the government is going to have an ‘uphill struggle’ to fulfil its pledge to bring broadband of a minimum speed of 2 Megabytes per second to its Great Britain. The company has produced a breakdown of all the areas in the country that are not yet up to that speed and it makes for troubling reading.

USA moves a step closer to free Broadband
