A double standard in the rules that govern inclusion in Apple’s ‘App Store’ has emerged after Google admitted that voice search programme, Google Mobile App violates Apple’s SDK. Specifically, Google Mobile App is using undocumented APIs to conduct its voice searches. This is forbidden by the rules that Apple have set out for developers wanting to create applications for the iPhone, which clearly state that developers may use, only APIs supplied in the iPhone developers kit. The offending APIs relate to the app’s proximity sensor function.

Google is being hit just like most businesses by the credit crunch. They are seeing lower trade on their shares. It may be a shock that even Google is affected like a small business, but that is not our true point. In these tough times there are things one can do to get their business more income.

Google’s concept began in 1996. At that time Yahoo was the leading search engine. The idea was started by Larry Page who needed a dissertation topic and decided to do it on the internet and its mathematical properties. During his studies he looked into web crawling, page rank, and many other options. From this research Google.com and therefore Google Inc was born.

Google is considering cutting a deal with personal computer makers to have Google Chrome pre-installed on new computers. A deal of this nature could considerably boost Google’s already gargantuan share of the search market as well as introducing Google to a new swathe of computer users, boosting the amount of people using applications like Gmail, Google Reader, Google Docs, etc.

Microsoft and Yahoo seem finally ready to link up and make a concerted effort to fight the dominance of market leader, Google. The resignation of Jerry Yang, Yahoo’s beleaguered CEO is thought to have been the catalyst for renewed interest from the software company.

Google has traditionally enjoyed a good relationship with Europe. It’s a major employer, with a base of operations in Dublin, sizable facilities in London and Zurich and smaller operations elsewhere in the continent and Russia. This relationship is important to Google as it has invested heavily into expanding its European interests over the last five years and intends to continue into the future.

The continuing battle to be the best in the business has again been taken by Google. The company has again increased its lead over its rivals Yahoo and Microsoft. Market research companies have followed not just the monthly usage, but have data for year to date percentages. While Microsoft has still made strides over its competitors, their share has fallen since last year. Yahoo has seen a decline across the board. This sampling was based on approximately ten million internet users within a four week period.

Okay, this is a new one. We’ve had Google telling us they can they can help slow global warming, that they can get more people to vote, that they can aid space exploration, and now it would seem they can help halt the spread of disease. Once again, they actually have a point. New site Google Flu could indeed stop us getting ill.

YouTube has revealed a new system to auction advertising on the site. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s very similar to the one used by Google. Just like Google, it will promote ‘sponsored video clips’ on the same page as organic search results.

Google has announced that it will be adding both voice and video chat to the Gmail plug-ins, allowing you to see and hear the contact you are talking to. All it takes is a quick download and install. Obviously you’ll need a web-cam but interestingly Google, obviously keen to get people using this function, has also teamed up with Logitech to offer discounts on hardware.
