The History of Google

Google’s concept began in 1996. At that time Yahoo was the leading search engine. The idea was started by Larry Page who needed a dissertation topic and decided to do it on the internet and its mathematical properties. During his studies he looked into web crawling, page rank, and many other options. From this research Google.com and therefore Google Inc was born.

The corporation was started in 1998 out of a garage. At the end of 1998 there were 60 million pages indexed in the Google search engine. During this time several companies realised that Google had something the other search engines couldn’t provide. They had a logical step to their index and therefore their search engine results. Consumers learned that they could find what they truly wanted from the results that they couldn’t find on Yahoo, MSN, or other search engines.

Now Google is the premier search engine. They continue to create innovative ideas for better indexing of sites to offer information the consumer wants to find. Their stock is above Yahoo and MSN because of their offerings. There has been some talk that Google might have a sort of monopoly, especially in their latest endeavours of search engine marketing.
