The Value of Content – Part 3

April 18, 2008 by Admin

Third Duplicate Content

Duplicate article publishing is the third widely known duplicate content issue. This occurs when an article is published online so that it can be copied or placed on several other sites on the internet. This often happens when article directories or article submission software is used. The search engine usually considers these to be duplicate content and will not list your site or list the article in the directories.

There are typically four groups of online individuals who use the above three duplicate content resources. The reasons for these uses are varied. First those who use duplicate content are trying to fool the search engine to get a better ranking in the search results.

Second there are website owners that believe they can get multiple listings to be found by the search engines without being duplicate content. In this case there is often an increase of keywords in the content. Lastly site owners may have made mistakes on their sites, with the content management, or affiliate practices so that it appears to be duplicate. These reasons are just four of the most obvious issues. They are by no means the only reasons. To understand duplicate content better you must also understand that it is not limited to written content.
