The Value of Content - Part 4
Duplicate Content and the Written Word
Duplicate content is not just about the written forms of content. There are six types of duplicate content we will look at in the next few posts. You should also be aware that with duplicate content come some penalties that could be lasting. Penalties can come from individuals using site templates that are very similar to other websites in structure and design. Let’s look at some examples by using Google as a model.
The structure and the content of a web site that is identical can lead to penalties. Take two websites that have the same structure and content. Site 1 has a three column template as does site 2. The content of each site is the same. The web site can either be a single page or it can be site wide with linking schemes. This is an extreme example, but also very easy for search engines like Google to discover.
Structure with content paraphrased is another duplicate content faux pas. In this case the content developer tried to offer the same structure to the site and used a linking scheme; however the content is not a hundred percent the same. It may be paraphrased at 90% identical. It is a zero tolerance offence.
