The Value of Content - Part 5
Third and Fourth Penalty Design
In the third penalty example the structure of the website is identical with a similar content. In this case the structure is absolutely a duplicate; however site 1 has a closely related subject and information that is also on site 2. The structure of the written words, content, and presentation is all very similar, but slightly different.
Number four says that the structure is only moderately identical, but the content is similar. You might think this is the same example as number three, but there is a little difference according t o Google. In this case Google must search the web by crawling a site. If site 1 has a couple of pages that are the same to site 2 it will label it duplicate content.
This also means the content doesn’t have to be an exact match, but it is similar enough to have Google remove it from the index. By removing a website from the index the visitor is going to have a harder time finding your business or site. This penalty can be quite severe if a lot of your traffic was dependent on the index. Most websites are dependent on the index as well as the rankings of the search engines.
