Understanding Search Engine Marketing

Google began on an idea that they would be a search engine using mathematics rather than indexing every page that came along. From the beginning Google used alpha and beta data to index pages in their search engine. Now Google is offering a new range of search options. It is these new options that are most important to search engine marketing now.

They have an image search, news search, shopping search, and local area search. These have been on the internet since 2005, but most consumers rarely use them. They don’t know that these options exist.

For businesses it is imperative to use the different search options to get your search engine marketing results. In order to get into this area of Google you have to have the correct content. In search engine marketing it is about search engine optimisation combined with a product to sell. In other words you have to offer top quality content and links for Google to search and then index in the proper areas. You have to target their break down in the search engine. For example if you are a shopping site that only ships locally, you would need to market for the local search options by using the yellow pages.
