Another useful sounding addition is the Action Center, a section that groups the main security and maintenance features of your PC together in one place. It’s not going to seem a huge deal to people that know their way around a computer already, though for casual users it could prove an invaluable resource as it allows them to manage the performance and security of their PC simply. Users can also schedule backups from this section.
User Account Control has also been simplified. It now allows you to limit the number of notifications you get when programmes begin running or files begin downloading. You can choose to be notified about everything or nothing and there are probably enough options in between to suit your taste. This is a significant concession to the Vista-haters – UAC was one of their major annoyances.
In addition to the interface improvements, it would seem that networking between groups of PCs has been simplified and made more secure. A new feature called Home groups has helped to structure the process of including several devices on one network, it automates things like library sharing (music, movies, pics) as well as making it easier to share devices like printers and external hard drives.
