A survey has been released today stating that almost 60 percent of IT managers have no plans to implement Windows 7 for their companies when it becomes available late this year/early next. This will come as a huge blow to Microsoft’s hopes that Windows 7 would be the silver bullet to get them back on track in the fight with Apple and Google.
59.3 percent of the 1,100 managers that answered the surveyors’ questions were against implementation of the new system in the short to medium term. 34 percent indicated that they were likely to implement the new system by the close of 2010 but only 5.4% said that they planned to implement the OS immediately after its debut.
So what’s standing in their way? Well, 42.7 percent cited the time and resources required to introduce the system as the major factors standing in the way of implementation. A slightly smaller number 39.1 percent told the survey company that application compatibility was their major reason for not planning to switch.
The fact the majority of companies would prefer to use an eight-year-old OS than update to 7 is yet another embarrassment for the software giant who must be hoping that the benefits of the system become apparent to business users quickly after release.
