Your Online Guideline to Avoiding Penalties from Google - Part 6

Understanding Ban and Penalty

In the previous section of this article we spoke about the definitions for ban and penalty. There are overlaps between the two definitions and this may make it hard for you to understand what you should avoid. Your behaviour could be in the gray area or perfectly correct for you, but Google can see it as a complete ban.

To avoid these issues you need to of course understand to a degree what constitutes a ban. You should also realise that you are not usually going to receive notification for the ban. In fact Google just drops you and you are suddenly without any form of traffic. With a penalty you may receive notification, but this is not guaranteed. In fact very few get a notification of the penalty.

If you receive notification you will at least get a few specifics for why your web page dropped. In this case you would need to fix the problems Google has outlined and then try to be re-indexed. To be re- indexed you must apply for consideration by requesting by email that Google view your changes. If the notification does not appear you would have to figure out the problem for yourself and try again. You will also need to find out why you have been banned and how to resolve the issue when that happens.
