Search Engine Optimisation Resource
Search engine optimisation is one of the best ways to get promoted on the World Wide Web. Search engines are used as a method of finding relevant information in today’s modern world. Everyday, millions of people make use of search engines to find products, services, and information that is needed in their everyday life. And because of its widespread use, it is really no wonder that webmasters are scrabbling to get the top spot in search engine rankings. But how exactly can a webmaster achieve this goal? Simple, they should follow effective search engine optimisation techniques.
What is search engine optimisation? Basically, it is a way for your website to become accessible to thousands of searchers using the internet. It improves the odds that your website will be found and visited by readers. To be listed on search engines, one of the first things you need to do is to submit your website to the search engines themselves. This will let search engines know that your website does exist so that it can rank your page properly. You need to understand though that there are actually several types of search engines, it is important for you to know the difference, so that you can adapt the appropriate search engine optimisation method.
Crawler Based Search Engines
Crawler-based search engines “crawl” and “spider” their listings on the web. The people who use search engines such as Google will search through the results that the “spiders” have found. There are three parts you can expect from a crawler-based search engine. Of course, the first one is the “spider” which spiders over your site to look at the content and changes on your page. The second is the index; this can be thought of as a catalog wherein each page that a “spider” finds is indexed. Lastly, the software that search engines uses is different from the other. This is the reason why your site will have different listings on different search engines.
For search engine optimisation, you should be aware that when you change the contents of your web site, crawler-based search engines will know these changes and it will affect how your site is listed on the search engine.
A human-powered directory
As its name implies, a human-powered directory uses people to list your website. A webmaster would need to submit a description of his site to the directory so that human editors can base the listing on these descriptions.
Hybrid search engines.
During the internet’s early days, it is quite common for search engines to display crawler-based or human-powered results, thus people focused their search engine optimisation based on the first two types of search engines. But today, it is now possible for both methods to be used so that it can provide the most relevant result.
You should note though that most search engines uses crawler-based applications but there are some differences on how each search engine operates from the other. It is important for you to know these differences and adapt it on your search engine optimisation techniques.
