Want to improve your search engine marketing capabilities but do not know where to go to get help? There are many companies around that will do the work for you, but these search engine fellers usually cost more than one would want to spend. Search engine marketing involves time, so you can either just sit back and scream.


There is help. Many people who actually know a thing or two, post such knowledge on a blog. Social network sites have all sorts of people who want to share with others what they know. Here you run the risk of getting some crack pot that is spotting off things that may or may not work.


So now what? Look for someone who goes into details and goes the distance. They will be able to explain things in simple terms so that the dummies out there can follow it. Most people when they put together a website will have keywords and Meta tags already designated.  If they do not exist, the search engines will pull the keywords out of the page, or what it thinks are the keywords. Usually the title will be a good indication. Also, the initial line of context will. This is more known as the topic sentence if one can remember English class. Here will be words that a visitor will read to get an idea of what the website is all about.

 

Most search engines are not bright. They cannot use cardiac to mean heart. If you use heart as a keyword, cardiac would not be a hit with the search engines. Also, not all of them allow for the use of "and", "or", "not" and others in terms of a search for bronchitis, acute or chronic. Some engines though take all the words.


You have to be ready for almost anything and choose your keywords accordingly.
Spelling, capitalization, singular or plural, all play a part in how a search engine will rank your site. Not all search engines treat things the same way. In the case of Meta tags, some use them extensively and others not much.


Some search engines look at the title and headers for frequency of use to determine your ranking. Others only use context. It is safe to say that the subject is a very frustrating one. No one knows exactly how you will be ranked. Even if you rank high one week, the following week you may be much lower.

 

As of now, the title and the description Meta tags are the ones most used by search engines. Google for instance does not look at the keyword Meta tags at all, but uses the two above most extensively, so try to proceed in search engine marketing by following Google’s style.
               

When you are venturing in search engine marketing, make sure whatever keywords you do use, that they are relevant to your webpage. Trying to use certain words to obtain a higher ranking will most likely result in the search engine not ranking you at all. Don't try it, Google doesn’t like it.
