Creating a Search Engine Optimized Web Site - Part 2
Keep in mind that the spiders can only read basic HTML code. Therefore, anything on the site that is created in any other way is likely to be ignored. This can be bad if your most pertinent information is in JavaScript, as the spider will find your site to be essentially worthless and will give you a low ranking.
Keep the following generalizations in mind when creating your site:
· Web spiders give high points to sites with relevant content
· Web sites do not look the same to the spiders as they do to human web surfers – try to see your site through the “eyes” of both parties
· Spiders cannot think – they read the content from left to right, from top to bottom. The content at the top of the page is considered to be more important.
· All pages need a title and a description in order o help the spiders understand them
· Inbound, outbound, and internal links are all important when it comes to winning over the spiders
By keeping these few simple things in mind, you will be more likely to create a website that is easy to use and attractive to your human users while still making the search engine spiders happy.
