3 Steps to the Internet Yellow Pages

Your website has the potential to be seen by a very large audience or a more specific audience. In fact you want to cater to both depending on what products you sell. Something that can be easily shipped around the world is not necessarily important to the local business industry. On the other hand if you have a local business or niche you may just find that local listings are some of the best options the search engines can offer your website. One way to get your business locally listed on the internet is the Internet Yellow Pages or IYP’s. These sites like Superpages.com, Yellowpages.com, or Yelp.com will help consumers find your website, directions to your local store, and even reviews of your products.

There are three ways you can decide on which internet Yellow Pages you want to be listed in. A lot of the times you might even find that the online yellow pages have already listed you on their site. Still, you can search out more sites to ensure the optimum advertising for your business.

The first step is to do a search for the keywords your business targets. You can then ask the question: “Do any of these Internet Yellow pages come up in the main search results?” We are not talking local results here, but in the top overall search results. If your listing does come up in the yellow pages results you have an organic search result and thus you are able to help your site get better rankings by using the yellow pages site that appears in the results.

You also need to know what your competition is. There are going to be other businesses listed in the internet Yellow Pages. These businesses could be making it difficult for you to get the results you want. You want your site to appear in the first page of results, not the second or third. If the IYP shows that your page would come up on the second or third page due to the high amount of competition you want to avoid that site.

Lastly you should consider what the dominant provider of your area is. There are internet Yellow Pages that cater better to specific locations. This means you will want to find the sites that help you with the local results; in essence find your local phone book online to ensure maximum views.
