The internet is a great tool for mankind though, as we all know, it has a darker side. One of the most commonly articulated concerns about the internet is that it provides too much scope for people’s privacy to be violated. So, what do you do if someone has put information up on the internet about you and it’s appearing as part of a Google search result? Can Google help to take it down?
Well the short answer is, yes Google can take any information they want off their search results, the question is whether they will. Google takes a very cautious approach when it comes to getting embroiled in things like this as obviously the biggest internet company in the world has nothing to gain by getting involved in local feuds between people.
Their first reaction is likely to be telling you that you should contact the webmaster of the site, though the chances are you’ve already done that and failed to get any action taken. If this is the case, they will intervene but only in the following particular circumstances.
1.If your national insurance, social security, government ID etc has been put onsite
2.If a person’s bank account information has been put up online
3.If your full name or business name has been included as part of an adult content site
4.If the site or page violates Google’s guidelines for webmasters and is considered to be a spam site
5.If the page contains an image of your signature
