Card Counting iPhone App attracts attention in Vegas
The apps available on the App Store are all fairly sedate, the company has been pretty careful to maintain a family tone to the applications available, which is why there are no pornography apps or ones in particularly bad taste available. This policy has prevented the App Store from becoming involved in any of the scandals or embarrassments you might think would be inevitable for a company dealing with so many developers. Until now, that is.
It seems a dodgy app has slipped through. Namely, the not at all subtly titled “Blackjack Card Counter.” The app pretty much does what it says on the tin – counts cards like a maths genius and shows its predictions to the user.
Whilst counting cards is likely to earn you either a swift ejection from a casino or an unpleasant trip to the manager’s office, it is not actually illegal as it’s basically just the same as being very good at blackjack. Using a computer programme to count cards for you however, very much is illegal, therfore using the app, or even owning it with intent to use it is a direct violation of the law.
As the saying goes, the house always wins – if I know about this, you’d better believe the Las Vegas casinos do and are on the lookout for any shifty looking Apple fans. I’d advise you not to bother even trying it.
