Windows software has been found to have a glitch, which prevents it from managing shortcuts correctly. The bug in the system means that hackers could manufacture shortcuts which would then take over user’s computers through the loophole in security.

The Microsoft Security Essentials software was released in September, in an attempt to ward off viruses and hacking attacks for consumers. Version 1.0 received positive industry reviews, when it was put to the test by technology reporters such as CNET and AV-Test.

Microsoft have this week announced the cancellation of their European launch of their Kin mobile, following a number of restructures within the organisation. Launched in May this year, the Kin was heralded as an alternative option for smartphone users, but it has been estimated that since being made available for purchase, the company have only managed to sell 500 handsets.

This catchy name can’t detract from the slim design, enhanced features and expanded internal hard drive, all of which promise to take gaming to a new level.

There has been somewhat of a power struggle occurring in recent months, as all of the internets heavy hitters vie to take users from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in the hope of damaging the monopoly that Microsoft have on the browser market. The recent announcement of the browser ballot scheme has evidently forced Microsoft’s hand as they have announced the long awaited arrival of Internet Explorer 9, albeit just a preview of it.

For a while now I’ve been talking about the dangers of assuming that one search marketing approach will work across a number of platforms, with mixed results. Unfortunately, some people just don’t want to believe that the approach required to make a success of a PPC campaign on Google is that much different to the approach required to do well on Yahoo, Bing, etc. Some people unfortunately will not be swayed from the notion that search is search and what’s good for the good is good for the gander.

A webmaster working on Microsoft Bing has admitted to SE Roundtable that an MSN bot has been clicking on Bing ads. The Microsoft webmaster was very keen to point out that the system was set up so that there was no chance of these clicks being charged to a client though this has done little to calm the annoyance amongst PPC account managers.
