Getting into DMoz #5: Final Considerations
The title and description are not the only places your bid can come unstuck, they’re just the main ones. There are a few more things you need to make certain are in order before pressing send.
One: Email Address. For pity’s sake make sure this is valid, it’ll be game over if not. Also, if you’re using someone else’s email, you must tell them. There’s nothing worse than a client replying ‘What’re you talking about?’ to an enquiry email from DMoz
Two: Address and Telephone no. These must be easy to find on your site – they should be anyway
Three: Be Honest. Are you absolutely sure your site belongs in that category. Look at the site descriptions objectively, check out the top and bottom of the lists and do some soul searching
Four: The Site. Usual rules, is the site easy to navigate, is the copy informative and concise – the editor is not going to wade through sloppy work for your benefit.
So that’s it, if you follow all the rules in this (admittedly epic) series of articles you should be in with the best possible shot of getting accepted.
If you still don’t, it’s not the end of the world. The most important thing is to keep trying. Eventually, if your site’s any good, you should make it on.
