Gmail adds a To Do List
As part of its continuing effort to turn Gmail from a decent email provider into a legitimate multi-purpose life/work organiser, Google Labs has added a new feature, Tasks. Essentially Tasks is a ‘to do list’ that appears at the top of the Gmail window in a small box, not dissimilar to a chat box. Users can read tasks, add new tasks and most importantly, remove completed ones.
This feature is just the latest to come out of the Google Labs project for Gmail. Earlier in the year Google Labs released gadgets that enabled users to see Google Docs without using the hosted programmes. Google labs was also famously behind Gmail Goggles, the function that stops you from sending foolish drunken emails by presenting you with a series of maths equations to solve if you try to send an email late at night.
The Tasks feature is still in its testing phase at present and so has yet to be rolled out to the general population of Gmail users. However, if users want to use the feature now, they can join the testing team by going to the labs tab under settings and activating it. Users will then be able to use the feature and feedback to Google.
