Multiple Versions of Windows 7 to be released
Did you think that the glowing reports on Windows 7 were a little too good to be true? If so, it appears you were right, or at least half right. All the gadgets and innovations we’ve raved about for the last few months are still going to be there but it appears that Microsoft plan to release the OS in a baffling array of different versions, seven to be precise. This over complication has left many in the industry scratching their heads fretfully.
One of the early body-blows sustained by floundering operating system Vista happened because Microsoft decided to release it in an array of different versions. This created customer confusion as to which was best, compatibility issues as people tried to upgrade from XP and a perception that Microsoft were simply price gouging.
There has been no official announcement of this policy from Microsoft though enough reliable blogs have it that I’m willing to treat it as pretty much fact.
I’m also fairly confident about the details of the exact nature of the different versions that are emerging in the blogosphere. Unfortunately, there’s a little too much data to go into in this post, so I’ll let you know the details tomorrow, see you then…
