A new social networking site has been created. I know, so what? That happens every day. This one however, has the potential to actually provide a new service to users. Modestly named Brazilian site, power.com provides links between your various social networks by essentially amalgamating all the contacts you have on Myspace, Facebook, MSN messenger, etc., into one overarching social network.
It’s not, strictly speaking, a social networking site, more a social networking site for social networks themselves. The site allows you to see all your contacts and their status updates in one place and when you click on a contact you jump to their profile page on whatever site that may be.
One of the more useful things about power.com is that it allows you to message any number of friends across as many of your networks as you want. This is the sort of practical feature that just might turn power.com into a success since it could save a huge amount of time when you’re trying to inform your entire social network about something like a new email address or, dare I say it, trying to promote something.
It’s early days and the interface isn’t perfect but I can easily see this service, or something like it taking off.
