Another reason people often get excited about putting blogs on their websites is that they can have a positive impact on SEO. As always it’s an inexact science, but one thing we can say with relative certainty is that Google likes sites that are current. If you have new content every day the SEO benefit is going to be two-fold.
Firstly, it will let the Google bots know that the site is to be crawled regularly which will ensure that any other SEO changes made to the website will noticed by Google quickly.
A good blog will also act as a link-baiting tool. Links, as we know, are probably the biggest factor in determining where your site sits in the Google rankings. A good blog post that attracts links based on its own merits can be worth its weight in gold but again, remember I said a good blog post. Absolutely nobody is going to link to a spam filled, messy article.
It’s also no secret that Google likes content. Not just any old content however, content that significantly adds to the site’s usefulness to the user. Google is getting progressively better at telling the difference between good content and bad, very soon a good blog could be an essential part of your site. An early start can’t hurt.
