Microsoft has this week announced preliminary details of a planned service pack for Exchange Server 2010. Several new features are set to be added to the calendar and messaging server software released by Microsoft earlier this year.
The obvious patches and fixes will of course be present in the update along with some helpful new features. Some of the main features of the update include the capacity for better archiving, better management capabilities and big improvements to Outlook Web Access such as the ability to move the reading pane and the introduction of customisable themes.
The update will also entail the creation of ‘retention policy tags’, these will serve the purpose of better automating the archiving and deletion of data whilst the multi mailbox search should prove to be very handy.
A few general improvement enhancements will be present too such as the ability to do other things within the program if a time consuming task like attaching a large file is still be completed.
Microsoft will be rolling out a beta service pack sometime in June of this year whilst the final version of it is expected to be out by the end of the year, we expect even more improvements to have been announced by then.
